Video round-up: The Jesus-movie edition!
New clips and trailers from The Chosen Season 5, The King of Kings, Light of the World, and The Last Supper.

Time for another batch of clips and trailers from current and upcoming Jesus movies.
The Chosen: Last Supper (aka The Chosen: Season 5) — part one March 27, part two April 4, part three April 11
The Chosen held a world premiere for its fifth season last Thursday, and along the way they streamed a two-hour video from the carpet outside the theatre.
If you’re not into celebrity interviews, the main attraction here is a brand new clip from the season itself, which starts at the 1:45:40 mark. It shows Ramah’s father Kafni walking with a group of men into Jerusalem, chanting Psalm 11:5-6—or, rather, a version of it that condemns “false prophets”—and itching for a chance to confront Jesus.
Incidentally, around the 44-minute mark, the actors who play Pilate and Claudia joke that it would be good to get someone from The White Lotus on The Chosen, which is kind of amusing given that The Chosen and The White Lotus actually have something in common, insofar as they are both (co-)written and directed by the sons of former ghostwriters for Billy Graham (and other Evangelicals). The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins is the son of Jerry B. Jenkins, who wrote Graham’s 1997 autobiography Just as I Am, while The White Lotus creator Mike White is the son of Mel White, who wrote Graham’s 1984 end-times book Approaching Hoofbeats.

The King of Kings — April 11
Angel Studios has released a new trailer for The King of Kings, an animated film—based on Charles Dickens’ The Life of Our Lord—that is coming to theatres on April 11.
Among other things, this trailer appears to reveal or allude to:
Various aspects of the Nativity (Matthew 1:18-2:12, Luke 2:1-20).
Jesus visiting the Temple as a boy (Luke 2:41-50).
The baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11, Matthew 3:13-17, Luke 3:21-22; see also John 1:29-34, which does not mention the baptism, per se, but does mention that John the Baptist saw the Spirit come down as a dove and remain on Jesus).
The miraculous catch of fish (Luke 5:1-11, or possibly John 21:1-14).
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
The healing of the paralytic (Mark 2:1-12, Matthew 9:1-8, Luke 5:17-26).
The feeding of the multitude (Mark 6:30-44, 8:1-9; Matthew 14:13-21, 15:29-38; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-13).
Jesus walking on the water (Mark 6:45-52, Matthew 14:22-33, John 6:16-21).
The raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-44).
The triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Mark 11:7-11, Matthew 21:7-11, Luke 19:35-44, John 12:12-19).
Pilate presenting Jesus to the crowd (Mark 15:6-15, Matthew 27:15-26, Luke 23:13-25, John 18:38-19:16).
Jesus carrying his cross (Mark 15:20-22, Matthew 27:31-33, Luke 23:26-32, John 19:17).

Light of the World — September 5
The makers of Light of the World, a traditionally-animated Jesus movie coming to theatres in September, have released a brief clip from the film for Easter, along with an Easter-themed lesson and some devotional materials. The clip features an exchange between Jesus and Pontius Pilate, in which the dialogue—including Pilate’s famous question “What is truth?”—is a blend of John 18:36-38 and 19:10-11.
The producers are also inviting ministry leaders to join a “launch team” to help promote the film and use it for outreach purposes. Interested parties can fill out an application form here.

The Last Supper — now playing
Finally, it’s been in theatres for a couple weeks now, but there are a few videos from Pinnacle Peak’s The Last Supper (which is not to be confused with The Chosen: Last Supper!) that I haven’t posted yet, so here’s a quick round-up of those.
First, the video above looks at ‘The Heart of the Movie’ and features various pastors, educators, and filmmakers, talking about how the film focuses on Caiaphas (James Faulkner), Peter (James Oliver Wheatley), and Judas (Robert Knepper).
The studio has also released “character profiles” of Caiaphas and Peter:
For what it’s worth, I’d quibble with some of the descriptions here. E.g., Caiaphas is described by a pastor as “one of the biggest villains of the Bible”, which to me seems overly simplistic—Caiaphas is clearly an antagonist, but not necessarily an unsympathetic one—and he is described by Faulkner as “the chief Pharisee in Jerusalem”, which is simply inaccurate, as it’s my understanding that most of the high priests back then were Sadducees, not Pharisees. (Faulkner may be thinking that the words “priest” and “Pharisee” are interchangeable, but they are not.)
Make of that what you will.
In the meantime, previous videos for The Last Supper:
