Watch: New trailers for The Chosen Season 5, The Last Supper, The King of Kings
All three Jesus movies (or sets of movies) are coming to theatres in March and/or April.

We’ve seen the teasers, now it’s time for the full trailers!
Three different Jesus movies (or sets of movies; one of them is basically an eight-hour TV season being released in three parts) are coming to theatres between now and Palm Sunday (April 13), and new trailers for all three have come out over the past couple of weeks. Here they are, in order of the movies’ release dates:
The Last Supper — March 14
Among other things, this trailer appears to reveal or allude to:
The miraculous catch of fish (Luke 5:1-11, or possibly John 21:1-14).
The feeding of the multitude (Mark 6:30-44, 8:1-9; Matthew 14:13-21, 15:29-38; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-13).
The triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Mark 11:7-11, Matthew 21:7-11, Luke 19:35-44, John 12:12-19).
Judas’s meeting with Caiaphas (Mark 14:10-11, Matthew 26:14-16, Luke 22:1-6).
The Last Supper itself, which is clearly identified here as a Passover dinner (Mark 14:17-31, Matthew 26:20-35, Luke 22:13-38; see also John 13-17).
Jesus saying, “Whoever eats my flesh or drinks my blood will remain in me, and I in them” (John 6:56).
The arrest in Gethsemane, and Peter cutting off someone’s ear (Mark 14:43-50, Matthew 26:47-56, Luke 22:47-53, John 18:2-12).
The Crucifixion (Mark 15:21-40, Matthew 27:32-56, Luke 23:26-49, John 19:16-37).
Jesus asking Peter if he loves him (John 21:15-19).1

The Chosen: Last Supper (aka The Chosen: Season 5) — part one March 27, part two April 4, part three April 11
Among other things, this trailer appears to reveal or allude to:
The triumphal entry into Jerusalem, continuing from the final scenes of the previous season (Mark 11:7-11, Matthew 21:7-11, Luke 19:35-44, John 12:12-19).
Jesus causing a disturbance in the Temple (Mark 11:15-17, Matthew 21:12-13, Luke 19:45-46) with a whip (John 2:13-17).
Jesus saying, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees” (Matthew 23:13-36; see also Luke 11:39-52; parts of these passages were already featured in S4E3).
Jesus saying, “Oh, Jerusalem, Jerusalem” (Matthew 23:37, Luke 13:34).
Judas’s meeting with Caiaphas (Mark 14:10-11, Matthew 26:14-16, Luke 22:1-6).
Caiaphas’s meetings with Pontius Pilate and Herod Antipas.
Jesus telling his female followers to keep their distance for the next few days.
The city and/or the Temple on fire, which I’m guessing is a flash-forward to the destruction of the Temple by the Romans roughly 40 years after the events of this series (as predicted by Jesus in Mark 13, Matthew 24, and Luke 21:5-36).
The Last Supper itself (Mark 14:17-31, Matthew 26:20-35, Luke 22:13-38, John 13-17).

The King of Kings — April 11
Among other things, this trailer appears to reveal or allude to:
Various aspects of the Nativity (Matthew 1:18-2:12, Luke 2:1-20).
The baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11, Matthew 3:13-17, Luke 3:21-22; see also John 1:29-34, which does not mention the baptism, per se, but does mention that John the Baptist saw the Spirit come down as a dove and remain on Jesus).
The miraculous catch of fish (Luke 5:1-11, or possibly John 21:1-14).
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
The feeding of the multitude (Mark 6:30-44, 8:1-9; Matthew 14:13-21, 15:29-38; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-13).
Jesus walking on the water (Mark 6:45-52, Matthew 14:22-33, John 6:16-21).
The triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Mark 11:7-11, Matthew 21:7-11, Luke 19:35-44, John 12:12-19).
The arrest in Gethsemane (Mark 14:43-50, Matthew 26:47-56, Luke 22:47-53, John 18:2-12).
Pilate presenting Jesus to the crowd (Mark 15:6-15, Matthew 27:15-26, Luke 23:13-25, John 18:38-19:16).
The Crucifixion (Mark 15:21-40, Matthew 27:32-56, Luke 23:26-49, John 19:16-37).
This trailer is followed by a video for a promotional giveaway, and—as a fan of both Bible movies and animated movies—I have to fact-check (or at least contextualize) one claim that is made in that video, specifically the claim that The King of Kings is “the first major animated biblical movie since The Prince of Egypt.”
If “major” refers to A-list movie stars and seriousness of purpose, then The Miracle Maker, a Welsh-Russian co-production starring Ralph Fiennes that premiered on TV a couple years after The Prince of Egypt came out, got there first.
But if it refers to a movie that got wide theatrical distribution, then The Star, an animals-at-the-Nativity comedy produced by Sony, got there first.
If, however, it refers to a film that combines A-list stardom and seriousness of purpose with wide theatrical distribution… then okay, The King of Kings can arguably lay claim to being the most major animated biblical movie since The Prince of Egypt.
But I still wouldn’t call it the first.
