Thank you so much for your extensive commentary and thoughts on The Chosen this blog. I have just subscribed so that I can access your comments on Season 3, but I see you've only done the first episode of S3 so far. Please could you advise when we can expect your comments on the second episode (and the rest)? I need it quite urgently for my Bible classes at the high school where I teach. It would be much appreciated!!
Hi Peter, it is now a month later and I've just made the second payment on my subscription. However, there have been no more in-depth analyses on the Season 3 (or 4) episodes. I would really appreciate it if you could at least complete Season 3 soon. I'm considering cancelling my subscription if I feel it is not providing the value I expected. Thank you!
Is it this episode or episode two where someone says "touch base?" (There actually was a short-lived Israeli Baseball League over a decade ago, but it had no teams in Galilee.) Overall I have come to simply accept this is as a stylistic choice made by the writers, but sometimes it still is too much.
Oh, I don't have that phrase in my notes. Maybe I'll catch it during a rewatch. (This episode is the only one so far this season that I've watched all the way through at least twice.)
I certainly recognize that it's a stylistic choice -- I don't know if I can ever bring myself to "accept" it :) -- but now that I've started cataloguing those things, I don't think I can stop.
I will say that I felt a little more forgiving to the makers of The Chosen when I caught up with the British series Britannia, which takes place during the Roman invasion of Britain in the AD 40s, and the characters started using wildly anachronistic expressions like "if I could turn back the hands of time..." I don't think clocks with rotating hands existed before the late Middle Ages...?
Do you have any more commentary for season 3 beyond episode 1. Our Bible study group is going to start watching season 3 next week. If not, any suggestions. You have done extensive work and it is much appreciated. Well done!
Thanks! I've written a few pieces about specific scenes that got previewed in the livestreams, and I wrote a piece about Simon's nickname Peter (and who used it and when), but I haven't done any full-episode commentaries since S3E1. I hope to soon, though. (I've actually got a piece on S3E2 almost ready to go, but I've got to tweak a few bits still...)
Dear Peter, as a subscriber I would appreciate it so much if you could complete the Season 3 commentary (and get to Season 4 as soon as possible too). I have found them so useful in the Bible class I teach and I really need the resources that you so expertly put together.

Thanks for the comment. I just replied to your comment on the other thread, here: https://open.substack.com/pub/petertchattaway/p/the-chosen-seasons-one-and-two-scripture?r=510er&utm_campaign=comment-list-share-cta&utm_medium=web&comments=true&commentId=63581892

Sheesh. At least a baseball-like game could have existed in theory. We do see a few proto-sports elsewhere in this season. But no clocks for sure.
