Watch: The teaser trailer for Journey to Bethlehem
The musical, co-starring Antonio Banderas and Joel Smallbone as two of the Herods, comes to theatres November 10.
Easter was just a few weeks ago, but it’s time to start thinking about Christmas.
Affirm Films, the “faith-based” division of Sony Pictures, released a teaser trailer for Adam Anders’ Nativity musical Journey to Bethlehem today.
You can watch it here:
There’s not much to comment on here. Seems very upbeat. Naturally, I look forward to seeing how they handle the slaughter of the innocents. (A Christmas movie in which not one but two Herods feature so prominently has to get into that, right?)
The film is coming to theatres November 10. I jotted some preliminary thoughts down when the cast and the release date were first announced two months ago.
In meantime, here are a few quick screengrabs:
First, from the Do-you-think-they-want-you-to-know-Antonio-Banderas-is-playing-Herod-in-this-film? file (and this is only a few of the shots of him here):
Next, Milo Manheim as Joseph and Fiona Palomo as Mary:
Lecrae as the angel Gabriel:
Joel Smallbone (of For King & Country fame) as Herod’s son Antipater:
The Magi, presumably at home …
… and in Herod’s throne room:
An empty manger waits to be filled:
And, finally, the obligatory camel shot:
More later, perhaps, as new trailers and images come out.
