Tangled and the Nativity: a fun coincidence

The new Flynn Rider has something in common with the original Flynn Rider.

The Hollywood Reporter says Disney has found an actor to play Flynn Rider in the live-action remake of 2010’s Tangled: Milo Manheim.

This is kind of amusing, as the original Flynn Rider was voiced by Zachary Levi, and he and Manheim have something in common: they have both played Joseph in movies about the Nativity.

Levi was the voice of Joseph in 2017’s The Star …

Mary (voice of Gina Rodriguez) and Joseph (Zachary Levi) in The Star (2017).

… and Manheim played Joseph in 2023’s Journey to Bethlehem:

Joseph (Milo Manheim) and Mary (Fiona Palomo) in Journey to Bethlehem (2023).

The part of Rapunzel, meanwhile, is going to Teagan Croft, an Australian actress who does not have any Bible-movie credits. Her biggest role to date was Raven on the DC Comics series Titans (38 episodes in 2018-2023, according to the IMDb).
