Livestream news: The Chosen, Testament, The Shift, and more

Get a sneak peek at a scene from The Chosen's upcoming Season 3, among other things.

Of making many livestreams there is no end—at least if you’re Angel Studios.

The Utah-based production company, which specializes in crowd-funded shows like the life-of-Jesus series The Chosen, has been hosting a string of livestreams over the past few days to raise money and awareness for its shows—and because I have a particular interest in Bible movies, a few of their projects caught my eye.

First, The Chosen itself has a livestream planned for July 17, in which, among other things, director Dallas Jenkins will premiere a scene from Season 3. Not an entire episode, just a scene—and it will only be online for a few hours. So be on the lookout for that. (The season itself isn’t set to debut until sometime in the fall.)

Second, a director named Paul Syrstad hosted a livestream last week to promote a film and a series that are both called Testament. The film is already made, and will premiere on the Angel Studios platform later this year, while the series, which is now in development, is billed as “a modern-day retelling of the Book of Acts. It follows a small group of believers as they seek to defy the empire and temple elite.”

The livestream began with a five-minute clip from the film (starting at the 7:20 mark in the video below)—and the clip has nods to Paul, Luke, James the brother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, “the Barnabas family”, a fugitive “fisherman”, and more:

Finally, five days ago director Brock Heasley introduced some test footage for The Shift, a film that was billed last year as “a modern day, sci-fi story of faith that takes a lot of its cues from the Book of Job”. This clip is taken from the livestream:

While we’re at it, the animated David movie that Angel Studios is co-producing with a South African company called Sunrise Productions is still putting out videos on a regular basis. Their most recent livestream was two weeks ago:
