Box office: Sonic the Hedgehog runs laps around the Lion King prequel
Also: Homestead had one of Angel Studios' best openings to date, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is now one of only three "faith-based" films to be in the top ten for seven straight weeks.
A few of this week’s highlights:
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 landed between the openings for the first two Sonic films and had one of the ten best openings of the year.
Mufasa: The Lion King had the lowest first weekend in wide release of any Lion King movie ever—even before taking 30 years of inflation into account.
Moana 2 continued to drop faster than most other recent animated films.
Homestead had the best opening of any Angel Studios release that wasn’t directed by Alejandro Monteverde (the Sound of Freedom and Cabrini guy).
Kraven the Hunter had one of the worst second-weekend drops of any comic-book movie ever.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is now one of only three “faith-based” films that have been in the top ten for seven straight weeks.
