Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith had the 2nd-best opening of any Star Wars re-release, behind the 1997 edition of the original film.
The Accountant 2 had the best opening of any non-superhero Ben Affleck movie since… well, since the original The Accountant back in 2016.
A Minecraft Movie landed in 4th place, in its fourth week, with $22.7 million—making this the first time since the first weekend in January that four films grossed over $10 million at the same time, and the first time since August 2023 that four films grossed over $20 million at the same time.
The King of Kings had a not-unexpectedly big drop in its first post-Easter weekend, but it also passed Jesus Revolution to become the top-grossing “faith-based” film of the decade, and it passed Parasite to become the top-grossing South Korean production in North America (though, yes, its characters are British and Middle Eastern, and its voice cast is mostly British and American).
