Box office: Reagan the top new film in a slow Labour Day weekend
Also: Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2 hit new milestones, and The Forge has one of the best holds of any "faith-based" film this decade.
A few of this week’s highlights:
Deadpool & Wolverine is on the verge of becoming the 16th film ever to gross over $600 million in North America. It will probably cross that line today.
Reagan had a wider release than any conservative-politician biopic I can think of but still fell behind the openings for films like 2008’s W. and 2018’s Vice.
The Forge had the 2nd-best second weekend of any “faith-based” film this decade, and one of the better holds of any Kendrick brothers movie.
Afraid had the worst opening of any Chris Weitz film in wide release.
Inside Out 2 passed the photorealistic remake of The Lion King to become the top-grossing animated movie of all time worldwide.
