Meanwhile, Pixar's Soul finally gets a theatrical release... and crashes, while Anyone But You becomes one of the biggest comedies of the decade.

I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment, and I’d almost be tempted to skip this week’s box-office report… except there’s a Bible movie on the list—and, alas, it looks like this might be its only week on the list. So let’s get to it while we can.

Most of this week’s post is behind the paywall, but here are a few things I’ll get into:

  • The musical remake of Mean Girls may have had the best opening weekend of any movie that was originally greenlit for streaming (in this case, Paramount+).

  • Anyone But You is on track to become the top-grossing R-rated comedy, and at least the 2nd-highest-grossing romantic comedy, of the decade.

  • Pixar’s Soul finally got a theatrical release… and it did worse than all four of the other major animated films that are currently in theatres.

  • And, yes, The Book of Clarence barely made the top ten, and it had one of the worst openings ever of any Bible movie that has had a wide release.
