Box office: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is Tim Burton's first bona fide hit in years
Also: Reagan and The Forge had the best holds in the top ten.
A couple of this week’s highlights:
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice marked a return to box-office form for Tim Burton, scoring his 2nd-best debut ever and joining the very short list of sequels that made as much money in one weekend as their predecessors did in their entire theatrical runs. (It accomplished this latter feat with the help of 36 years of inflation, yes, but still.)
Reagan and The Forge—two films with faith-based and/or red-state appeal—had the best holds of any films in the top ten, and both films actually moved up a notch on the list, relative to their positions last week.
