Time for another Netflix data dump!
Every six months, Netflix releases a spreadsheet listing all the films and TV shows that have been watched on their platform at least 100,000 times during the period in question. And every time they release one of these spreadsheets, I go through it looking for all the Bible-movie titles I can think of, to see how they ranked, and to see how their viewership numbers have risen and/or fallen over time.
The new list covers the period between January and June 2026, and the top Bible film and TV show this time are… exactly what they were the first time I did this, three years ago!
The top Bible movie was Noah, which returned to Netflix in February after an almost-two-year absence.
Prior to this, the top Bible movies were 2014’s Noah (in January-June 2023), 2017’s The Star (in July-December 2023), 2014’s Exodus: Gods and Kings (in January-June 2024), 2024’s Mary aka Mary Mother of Jesus (in July-December 2024), 2004’s The Passion of the Christ (in January-June 2025), and 2025’s Ruth & Boaz (in July-December 2025).
Noah is the first movie to be the top Bible film twice since Netflix started releasing these semi-annual data dumps three years ago.
The top Bible TV show was The Chosen: Season 1, which previously topped the list in 2023 but then spent a year and a half behind 2024’s Testament: The Story of Moses before taking the top spot again in the second half of 2025.
Most of the biblical titles from the previous “data dump” are still on the list, and there is one interesting newbie, too, i.e. the Brazilian telenovela Jesus. (If you think 40 episodes and counting of The Chosen is a big deal, that series has over 190!)
So, once again, I have rounded up all the relevant films and shows I could find and have listed them below, noting how their numbers have evolved over the course of the seven “data dumps” released so far. As before, I compiled this list by looking for specific high-profile titles—including every title on the Bible-movie list that I use in my box-office reports—and then by searching for keywords like “gospel”, etc.
